Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee took to X to warn residents of roughly a dozen Lebanese towns and villages to relocate at least 1,000 meters into open areas ahead of anticipated further bombardment.
Among those killed was Ali Qassem Ahmad, the head of the Zellaya municipality, who died alongside three members of his family when a strike hit the family residence in the western Bekaa town of Zellaya, Lebanon's National News Agency reported. The assault, which began Tuesday and extended into Wednesday, also left three other individuals wounded.
Israel's military said it had struck approximately 25 targets across Lebanon over a 24-hour period, all of which it described as structures serving Hezbollah's military operations.
Hezbollah also escalated its activity Wednesday morning, launching an explosive drone toward Israel that the Israeli military said landed near the Lebanese border. Separately, the group directed additional drones and rockets at Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon, with two drones detonating in close proximity to troops — moderately wounding one soldier and lightly injuring another.
Hezbollah claimed it struck Israeli troops in the town square of Al-Taybeh with a drone, describing it as a "confirmed hit." The group also said it targeted Israeli positions near Al-Bayada with overnight artillery fire.
The militant group framed its actions as retaliation for what it called "Israeli violations" of a ceasefire agreement that had come into effect the previous month.
