Provided by AGPIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is currently in Beijing for discussions with Chinese officials, held a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday, the ministry said in a statement.
According to reports, the two ministers reviewed recent regional developments and highlighted the need to sustain diplomatic engagement and coordination among regional states in order to curb rising tensions.
No immediate statement was issued by Saudi Arabia regarding the conversation.
Tensions in the region have increased following the outbreak of war between the US and Israel against Iran in February, which has resulted in significant casualties and displacement, as stated by reports.
The conflict has reportedly led to more than 3,300 deaths and the displacement of tens of thousands of people.
It was also reported that 13 US servicemen were killed and several others injured during the hostilities, with Iran carrying out retaliatory strikes on US bases and military assets across the Middle East.
